La période italienne

Comme tous les jeunes peintres qui veulent montrer leurs talents artistiques, un voyage en Italie s’impose en 1832. À l’époque, les artistes européens s’agglutinent autour de Rome, Venise ou dans la région de Naples pour approcher le Vésuve. Ils sont à la recherche de couleurs chaudes et chatoyantes.
